Store Review: PH8

I’ve never been a sportswear-kind-of-girl. Oh sure, I wear workout gear when I’m exercising, but I am so perplexed by wearing what I think is way too casual attire for public eye, that I don’t even go to public gyms. I workout at home. And I would have never ever considered wearing sportswear to run errands or for travelling. That is until fate introduced me to PH8.

Formerly bebe sport, PH8 (pronounced fate) is new to the Las Vegas shopping scene. Featuring athletic gear and casual sportswear, PH8 makes exercising, doing yoga and visiting the spa chic and fashionable. Prices are reasonable and range from $19-$139. I found some super-soft, cotton leggings for only $22. They’re made well, fit well and flatter my derrière.

I left so impressed with PH8 that I am now a reformed dressy fashionista. Now that I know I can wear sportswear and still be flashy, stylish and stunning, I’m keeping PH8 on my shopping radar. And I suggest you add it to yours.

It’s hard to believe this is sportswear!

Find Your Style at Urban Outfitters

Urban Outfitters logoWith a blended mix of high and low, Urban Outfitters is a style candy store for the young and the young at heart who enjoy casual and effortless fashion with a subtle focus on trends.

Las Vegas is lucky to have two large and well-stocked locations, both with friendly, helpful and chatty sales associates to assist with your shopping needs. Leave your snobbery at the door. Urban Outfitters is a hip scene for socially-minded men and women with a modern-day attitude and a quirky sense of humor.

Not only do shoppers discover fresh styles from brands like Cheap Monday, Silence and Noise and Kimchi, but they can also find fun treasures for their home such as bedding, rugs and even a Darth Vadar alarm clock. Las Vegas locals should keep Urban Outfitters on their shopping radar and visitors must pay a visit or two to this fabulous shopping spot. If you don’t have an Urban Outfitters near you, then be sure to schedule time to shop at Urban Outfitters during your next Vegas visit.

Crystals at City Center is Open for Business

Sure it’s a recession, but that won’t stop Las Vegas from persevering. MGM Mirage’s 8.5 billion dollar development known as City Center has begun to open, beginning first with Vdara, a 57-story condominium hotel, followed by every shoppers’ paradise, Crystals.

Crystals is a 500,000 square foot retail and entertainment district featuring luxury retailers such as Tiffany, Louis Vuitton, Roberto Cavalli and Tom Ford. According to reports, Crystals is 70% leased with 40% of its tenants available for the opening on December 3. Even with a soft opening, Crystals proved to be impressive, bold, spectacular and offering a shopping experience unlike any other in the world. With gorgeous, unique artwork and architecture, City Center is also the Las Vegas leader in environmental sustainability, boasting six LEED gold rating certifications.

But social responsibility aside, the real reason to visit Crystals is the eye candy. And, if it fits your budget, the luxury shopping is without a doubt to-die-for.

Tom Ford Opens in Las Vegas

by Dan Birlew

These are good days to be a guy who likes to shop in Vegas. After dazzling Hollywood stars (and having recently directed the indie film, A Single Man), designer Tom Ford’s new store is now open at Crystals in Las Vegas’s City Center. The location is difficult to miss, thanks to the contrast of bright-lighted letters on stained wood paneling. The interior is also dark and relaxing, with comfortable and elegant décor styled after Tom Ford’s own home, including modern sofas, a sleek marble coffee table and an impressive beaver skin rug.

But the real attraction of the Tom Ford store is the complete line of elite men’s wear, sunglasses, scents and accessories you can’t find anywhere else, even at Neiman Marcus stores. Though sparsely stocked, the racks provide a wide variety of the elegant suits, great shirts and bold ties Ford is so well known for. The staff makes your shopping quite an elegant experience, and it’s an impressive place to take a date before or after dinner.

Having always admired Ford’s fashions from afar, the experience of shopping in his store was honestly a little overwhelming. While perusing the marble backroom full of eyewear and colognes, a helpful salesperson showed me several of Ford’s signature scents. The perfume Black Orchid was so compelling that I found myself reaching for my credit card. Luckily Ford’s fragrances are affordable on any budget.

Though I managed to get away with some funds still left in my account, I will say that the Tom Ford store is not a place for men requiring standard shopping contrivances… such as price tags. You’ll find none in the store. If something catches your eye, be sure you’re ready to spend and spend well before asking for a fitting. Getting the same great look and cut in a suit Daniel Craig had in the last Bond movie will cost you plenty.

Aside from the suits, the shirts, fragrances, and accessories can be had for reasonable prices. For giggles, check out the brown men’s swimming trunks hanging on the rack. Most of you will skip it, you’d have to be a 12 year old boy to pull it off.
