Fall 2009 Trend: Black, White and Style Allover
What’s black and white with style allover? One of the hottest trends of Fall 2009 – black and white. Now, you could go from store to store searching for stylish black and white pieces that go great together. Or… you could go to your one-stop shop for everything black and white: White House │ Black Market.
At White House │ Black Market, you’ll find boutique style shopping with fabulous fashion in shades of black and white. White House │ Black Market offers wonderfully honest simplicity with remarkable individuality. It’s class, sophistication and contemporary style all rolled into one.
There are various ways you can incorporate this trend into your wardrobe – romantic, mod or fashion-forward. To create a romantic black and white look, try a simple yet sexy black pencil skirt, such as the Elysee Corset Pencil Skirt. Pair with a frilly white blouse, like the Sleeveless Cascade Ruffle Shell. Both are available at White House │ Black Market.
If you’re going for a retro mod look, try the White House │ Black Market Tweed Wing Collar Coat in an Ecru with Black print, which features oversize black buttons. Wear it with a black or white mini dress and knee-high boots.
But if you long for something more avant garde, purchase the Drapeneck Tunic Dress which features a beautiful black and cream swirl design. Wear it with the Lamb Leather Jacket. The asymmetrical zipper on the jacket adds just the right amount of edge. Both pieces can be purchased at White House │ Black Market.
There are over 300 White House │ Black Market boutiques and Las Vegas features four retail stores and one outlet store. Locations are listed below.

Las Vegas Fashion’s Night Out at Fashion Show Mall
Fashion’s Night Out, which takes place this Thursday, September 10, is a global celebration of fashion designed to promote retail business, increase consumer confidence and satisfy the style cravings of fashionistas and shoppers.
While the official U.S. event launches in New York City on the first evening of New York Fashion Week, Las Vegas also celebrates Fashion’s Night Out with three events held at Fashion Show Mall, 3200 Las Vegas Blvd South. First, there is Banana Republic’s grand opening of their new store concept, which we previously blogged about. The event goes on from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm and benefits the local Las Vegas non-profit organization Aid for AIDS Nevada. Enjoy complimentary cocktails and a live DJ. Must be over 21 to attend. Banana Republic can be found on the upper east side of Fashion Show Mall.
Another event taking place is in the Grand Hall of Fashion Show Mall right on the runway from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Join Las Vegas journalist, columnist and Editor-in-Chief of “Vegas Magazine,” Kate Bennett, as she presents the top trends for Fall ’09, featuring stunning collections from Saks Fifth Avenue as they showcase their “Want It” trends. You won’t want to miss out! Enjoy high fashion, stylish ambiance, cocktails, light fare and a champagne reception hosted by Saks Fifth Avenue. Plus, enter to win a fabulous prize. RSVP via email to: rsvp@vegasmagazine.com Include your first and last name in your RSVP email.
Meanwhile at Neiman Marcus, take pleasure in complimentary cocktails and hors d’oeuvres served in Designer Sportswear on Level Two and in Menswear Sportswear on Level One. There will also a Christian Louboutin Fall Trunk Show in the Ladies Shoe Salon and a Stefano Ricci Trunk Show in Men’s Clothing. Both shows take place on Level One. Look for psychic readings in Cosmetics on Level One and a Photo Booth in Contemporary Sportswear. Also in Contemporary Sportswear, benefit from Trend Styling Presentations from Alice & Olivia’s West Coast Merchandiser Jill Rouse.
Help to promote retail business and boost the Las Vegas economy while looking ever so-stylish and staying up with the trends. It’s a night every stylish shopper will want to experience. We’ll see you there!

Las Vegas’ Newest Casino Retail Center: Crystals at CityCenter
Opening later this year on the world-famous Las Vegas Strip, in between Bellagio and the Monte Carlo, is CityCenter. Expected to be the most luxurious casino resort in Vegas, CityCenter features amazing architecture, impressive interior design and an elegant retail and entertainment district called Crystals, which is scheduled to open on December 3.
Crystals will showcase exclusive retailers and flagship stores, including Louis Vuitton, Hermes, Christian Dior, Tom Ford, Miu Miu and Paul Smith, just to name a few. In fact, for many of these brands, the Crystals’ location is the largest location in Las Vegas, the United States or in some case, the largest in the world.
Las Vegas tourists and local residents alike are strongly advised to add Crystals to their shopping radar at once. Designed by Studio Daniel Libeskind with interior architecture by David Rockwell, Crystals will offer a dramatic experience of the world’s most elite brands combined with stunning eye candy and gratifying people watching. A carnival for the senses, Crystals is set to become a preeminent destination for luxurious shopping.
For more information on CityCenter or Crystals, please visit the CityCenter website at CityCenter.com.

Welcome to Go Shop Vegas
GoShopVegas.com is a project straight from the heart.
Oh sure, it’s about something as superficial as shopping. But for me, shopping is about more than being materialistic. For me, shopping is an adventure that tests one’s creativity, savvy, ability to negotiate and barter, endurance, stamina and skills for strategy. And if you are a real shopper, then you know exactly what I mean.
My quest to share my knowledge of retail and fashion began when I started my personal fashion, shopping and style blog called Lollie Shopping. Lollie Shopping focuses on shopping news across the board, online and in-store and is basically about all things fashionable that I love, have discovered or in which I am interested.
While Lollie Shopping may be beneficial to retailers and shoppers across the nation (and even abroad, as I have discovered I have readers in Canada, the U.K. and the Bahamas), there is rarely a specific focus on the fabulous shopping of Las Vegas. As a Las Vegas resident, I take seriously the state of our local economy. And as a marketing professional with a special expertise in retail, I have an interest in our local retailers and their ability to do just as well as our casinos.
Las Vegas is a transient town, and every year I meet a newcomer or two. When educating these Vegas newbies to the ins and outs of living in Las Vegas, they are always surprised to hear my tales of great Las Vegas shopping. Naturally, when one thinks “Vegas” one thinks of gambling, partying, shows and elegant restaurants. No one ever thinks of the shopping.
Go Shop Vegas is going to change all that.
My goal is to share pertinent Las Vegas shopping information on the pages of this website, send local retailers as much business as possible and promote Las Vegas as a premier shopping destination. All the while, I hope to make learning the ropes of shopping in Las Vegas as easy as possible for you, the reader and shopper.
For now, GoShopVegas.com is a one woman-show with dreams of growth. I can only focus on “the best” and personal favorites for this website – with personal favorites being labeled as Go Shop Vegas Favorites. Everything listed on the pages of Go Shop Vegas was chosen based on personal experiences, recommendations from people I respect and editorial opinion.
However, your feedback is deeply appreciated. So, if you feel I missed something, or you have a suggestion, or maybe you have a question, please don’t hesitate to contact me at info@goshopvegas.com. I may not be able to respond to every email, but I will read them all and take into consideration all feedback.
Thank you for visiting GoShopVegas.com. Please come back again and consider subscribing to our email list. This way you can continually be updated on anything new that happens on the Las Vegas shopping scene.

Boutique
Boutique shopping is where you’ll discover independent fashion and unique items you won’t find anywhere else. It’s intimate and feels oh-so-exclusive. Don’t be intimidated by this pretty, French word. In Las Vegas, you’ll find boutiques that don’t break the bank. In fact, most Las Vegas boutiques carry a wonderful mix of high and low and everything in between.

The Gypsy Den

The Attic
After being featured in an American Express commercial and with their clothes being used in that infamous spread Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie did for “W” magazine, The Attic has become quite the tourist attraction. This probably explains their unusual policy of charging $1 at the door, just to get in. Keep in mind that this $1 entry fee buys visitors a lifetime membership, so long as you hold onto your membership card and present it next time you visit.
NOTE: The Attic is temporarily closed due to a fire. The store is expected to reopen in a new location. Check back with Go Shop Vegas for updated information.
The Funk House
Owned and operated by Cindy Funkhouser, an integral part of the Las Vegas arts community and one of the founders of Las Vegas’ First Friday arts event, The Funk House is a strong Go Shop Vegas Favorite. Featuring retro furniture and accessories, you’ll also find vintage jewelry and maybe even a cool leopard print hat!

Antique Malls
Let’s face it. Las Vegas is swank. It was swank back in the good ol’ days. It’s swank now. But if you’re a lover of all things retro, then you probably enjoy the swanky Las Vegas of the past. At Las Vegas antique shops, you’ll find true vintage Vegas. There are several antique shops across Las Vegas, but listed below are the Go Shop Vegas Favorite antique malls.
ANTIQUE MALLS
Charleston Antique Mall
Filled with many antique dealer booths, you’ll find rustic country pieces, Victorian furniture, Tiki-style artwork and retro mod home fashion. And, yes, you’ll find Elvis memorabilia, too.
307 West Charleston Blvd
Las Vegas, NV
702-228-4783
Not Just Antiques Mart
Believe the name. You really will find more than antiques here, including collectibles and memorabilia. Active in the arts community, Not Just Antiques Mart is considered to be a gem. It’s located just down the street from Charleston Antique Mall, so you can visit two antique malls in one day.
1422 Western Ave
Las Vegas, NV 89102
702-384-4922
Antique Mall of America
While it is located on the south Las Vegas Strip, it’s way south. But, really worth the trip.
9151 Las Vegas Blvd South,
Las Vegas, NV 89123
702-933-2791
Antiques at the Market
Books, jewelry, furniture and even vintage clothing. You’ll find a little bit of everything here. Be sure to stop by the cafe located inside. Go Shop Vegas highly recommends having lunch here during your antique excursion.
