Super Star Nelly Visits Las Vegas
Recording artist, actor, entrepreneur and philanthropist Nelly was in Las Vegas on July 10 to promote his Apple Bottoms line sold at Macy’s and to promote the Nevada Cancer Foundation and his Jes Us 4 Jackie campaign, whose mission it is to promote bone marrow donation awareness and register donors.
Cancer survivor, 18-year-old Valerie Cruz, had her dreams come true when she not only got to meet Nelly but also got to walk the runway in the Apple Bottoms Summer and Fall I runway show at Fashion Show mall.
The runway show began with current Summer pieces, including swimwear and rompers. It ended with dark colored, fashion forward Fall pieces including lace leggings, an eye-catching black and white hooded tunic and stunning studded handbags. According to Apple Bottoms Head Designer, Yvette Owens, the Fall collection is inspired by travel.
Everything featured in the Apple Bottoms runway show is available in-store for purchase now at Macy’s.
Betsey Johnson, My Handbag and Why You Should Expect to See a Little LOVE in Her Fall Collection
Fashion favorite, Betsey Johnson, visited Las Vegas last Saturday, October 24. Her Sin City tour began at the Betsey Johnson retail location at Fashion Show and ended at the second Betsey Johnson retail store at Miracle Mile at planet hollywood.
Fun, lively, fabulous and decked out, the designer posed for cameras, met with fans face-to-face, and even signed my new gray leather Betsey Johnson Little Bow Pleat handbag. She told me that gray is her latest favorite color. I was elated to hear that as I am going through a gray obsession this season.
Locally-owned bakery, Retro Bakery, which is very popular among locals for their
delicious cupcakes, provided a 
gorgeous pink, three-tiered cake for the event at Miracle Mile.
In addition to her store appearances, Betsey Johnson also visited the backstage of the Cirque de Soleil show “LOVE,” a Beatles-inspired spectacle of nostalgia and entertainment. Ms. Johnson was reportedly taking notes of the costumes, which is quite a compliment to the talented costume designers of “LOVE.” I predict that Betsey Johnson fans should keep an eye out for “LOVE” inspired pieces in her Fall 2010 collection…, or, maybe her Spring 2011. We’ll see.

Las Vegas Fashion’s Night Out at Fashion Show Mall
Fashion’s Night Out, which takes place this Thursday, September 10, is a global celebration of fashion designed to promote retail business, increase consumer confidence and satisfy the style cravings of fashionistas and shoppers.
While the official U.S. event launches in New York City on the first evening of New York Fashion Week, Las Vegas also celebrates Fashion’s Night Out with three events held at Fashion Show Mall, 3200 Las Vegas Blvd South. First, there is Banana Republic’s grand opening of their new store concept, which we previously blogged about. The event goes on from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm and benefits the local Las Vegas non-profit organization Aid for AIDS Nevada. Enjoy complimentary cocktails and a live DJ. Must be over 21 to attend. Another event taking place is in the Grand Hall of Fashion Show Mall right on the runway from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
