Tom Ford Opens in Las Vegas

These are good days to be a guy who likes to shop in Vegas. After dazzling Hollywood stars (and having recently directed the indie film, A Single Man), designer Tom Ford’s new store is now open at Crystals in Las Vegas’s City Center. The location is difficult to miss, thanks to the contrast of bright-lighted letters on stained wood paneling. The interior is also dark and relaxing, with comfortable and elegant décor styled after Tom Ford’s own home, including modern sofas, a sleek marble coffee table and an impressive beaver skin rug.
But the real attraction of the Tom Ford store is the complete line of elite men’s wear, sunglasses, scents and accessories you can’t find anywhere else, even at Neiman Marcus stores. Though sparsely stocked, the racks provide a wide variety of the elegant suits, great shirts and bold ties Ford is so well known for. The staff makes your shopping quite an elegant experience, and it’s an impressive place to take a date before or after dinner.
Having always admired Ford’s fashions from afar, the experience of shopping in his store was honestly a little overwhelming. While perusing the marble backroom full of eyewear and colognes, a helpful salesperson showed me several of Ford’s signature scents. The perfume Black Orchid was so compelling that I found myself reaching for my credit card. Luckily Ford’s fragrances are affordable on any budget.
Though I managed to get away with some funds still left in my account, I will say that the Tom Ford store is not a place for men requiring standard shopping contrivances… such as price tags. You’ll find none in the store. If something catches your eye, be sure you’re ready to spend and spend well before asking for a fitting. Getting the same great look and cut in a suit Daniel Craig had in the last Bond movie will cost you plenty.
Aside from the suits, the shirts, fragrances, and accessories can be had for reasonable prices. For giggles, check out the brown men’s swimming trunks hanging on the rack. Most of you will skip it, you’d have to be a 12 year old boy to pull it off.

Sometimes the weather motivates holiday shoppers to take their shopping indoors and if that’s the case, the Fashion Show mall is definitely the place to go. Comfy chairs, sofas and convenient benches are in abundance for weary companions, while a wide range of shopping allows for every shopper to find her treasures, no matter the budget. The mall decorations at Fashion Show are more than festive. They’re deluxe, rich, captivating and create a real sense of magic for the holiday season. Why go through the trouble of decorating your home when you can simply take in the delight of the holiday decorations at Fashion Show mall?
Of course, the real reason to shop for holiday gifts at Fashion Show is the shopping. Shoppers in search of trendy fashion at low prices will enjoy the selection at Arden B., Wet Seal, Forever 21, Steve Madden and Claire’s Boutique. But for those who can spend more and adore designer fashion, the collections at Kate Spade, Betsey Johnson, True Religion and the ultra chic boutique Talulah G are sure to satisfy.
But there’s more than fashion available at Fashion Show, including yoga wear at Lululemon, video games at EB Games, licensed Hello Kitty merchandise at Sanrio, licensed sports gear at Champs and art at Centaur Art Galleries. And, of course, there’s wonderful shopping to experience at Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue and Macy’s.
Restaurants and eateries are plentiful and range from Sbarro to The Capital Grille. Parking includes outdoor lots, outdoor garage, a large underground parking area and valet – outdoor and underground. Go Shop Vegas tip: The outdoor valet spot located outdoors and near the underground garage entrance off Fashion Show Drive (which for some reason is called Dio Drive on Google Maps), is the most convenient spot for parking. Parking underground is a bit daunting, even the valet. While valet is free, tipping generously is highly recommended ($2-$5 when dropping off and when picking up).

More on Betsey Johnson and LOVE
As reported on GoShopVegas.com last week, fashion designer Betsey Johnson visited Las Vegas. During her visit, the famous fashionista took in the 7:00 pm show of The Beatles LOVE by Cirque du Soleil at The Mirage. Accompanied by two friends, the original wild child of the design world was easily spotted with her signature platinum blonde hair, red lipstick and fashion forward ensemble with included a diamond encrusted “B” necklace. Betsey enjoyed a glass of champagne during the show and stood in the aisle throughout the performance to dance and sing along to her favorite Fab Four songs.
Following the show, Betsey headed backstage to take photos and hang out with the cast, where she showed off some moves from her early dance career and told the cast that “the show has [her] inspired for the next collection and fashion show.” On her way out of the theater, the design icon couldn’t help but make a stop inside the LOVE Wardrobe Department where she mingled with the crew, complimented the costumes, and left with a fistful of fabrics from the LOVE costume shop to use while creating her next collection of designs!

Betsey Johnson, My Handbag and Why You Should Expect to See a Little LOVE in Her Fall Collection
Fashion favorite, Betsey Johnson, visited Las Vegas last Saturday, October 24. Her Sin City tour began at the Betsey Johnson retail location at Fashion Show and ended at the second Betsey Johnson retail store at Miracle Mile at planet hollywood.
Fun, lively, fabulous and decked out, the designer posed for cameras, met with fans face-to-face, and even signed my new gray leather Betsey Johnson Little Bow Pleat handbag. She told me that gray is her latest favorite color. I was elated to hear that as I am going through a gray obsession this season.
Locally-owned bakery, Retro Bakery, which is very popular among locals for their
delicious cupcakes, provided a 
gorgeous pink, three-tiered cake for the event at Miracle Mile.
In addition to her store appearances, Betsey Johnson also visited the backstage of the Cirque de Soleil show “LOVE,” a Beatles-inspired spectacle of nostalgia and entertainment. Ms. Johnson was reportedly taking notes of the costumes, which is quite a compliment to the talented costume designers of “LOVE.” I predict that Betsey Johnson fans should keep an eye out for “LOVE” inspired pieces in her Fall 2010 collection…, or, maybe her Spring 2011. We’ll see.
